Breakfast with Jesus

Having survived the Christmas flurry of activities, I'd like to report on one of them. Last Friday from around 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the women of the church invited their friends to an evangelistic breakfast conference. My wife, as always, worked very diligently preparing everything, down to the smallest detail. Tables, chairs, tablecloths, poinsettias and wall decorations. Check. Table centerpieces, program, sound system and music. Check. Gifts for the speaker Elena Parker and her helper Rosie. Check. The women did a remarkable job with the food, and everyone worked together.

It was an amazing meeting...the most amazing part of it was that more visitors came than women from the church! Two ladies trusted Christ at the end of the meeting. Many, many more clearly heard the gospel. Several of the women commented on how united the church ladies were, how special that was.  What a cool testimony!

I was talking to someone recently about the local church. I said, "When a church stops growing, it starts dying." It's a challenge to be constantly outward-focused. But the excitement it creates, well, there's just no substitute.
Mayra several of the women that attended the breakfast.
