Community Center Closing Program

Last night was a lot of fun. It was probably our most attended closing program of the 4 we've done so far, largely in part to a lot of attendance of parents watching the basketball competition, around 20 kids competing in 4 teams. The basketball games started around 4:30 p.m., with prizes given towards the end of the closing program. Basketball has pretty much taken over as our largest activity recently, eclipsing ESL and music. The Amigas del Alma women's group was also heavily represented by over 20 women who either currently participate in baking classes, or have in the past.

Well over 100 people attended the event, with about 35 students participating in one way or another. The youth took advantage of the event to sell delicious desserts to raise money for Six Flags, and we provided coffee and other cookies free.

The purpose is always to get to know new people, and last night I saw quite a few neighbors who had never been to any of our events before.

Today we are hosting our dental and medical outreach, that will include free haircuts as well, offered by two ladies who attended last night, and who have apparently attended the women's activities lately.

So...thank you to all of you who prayed for this! I didn't take the camera last night, but I think Jim Cottrill got some pictures.
