The week in review, and 3 Shades of Blue

Ok, you know you should update your blog when your dad sends your son downstairs and says, "when are you going to update your blog?" So...I'm going to.

This past week has been full, trying to do all of those last-minute things that from busy-ness or procrastination didn't get done the last 6 weeks. It's also been a week of practicing for this Sunday's worship time at Wolc, both Monday and Thursday night. A guy from the church and I also purchased a drum set for the church, which will be used this Sunday and many Sundays afterward.

On Tuesday, Daniel caught an 18 inch largemouth, that was cool, without a doubt his biggest fish ever.

Wednesday was a highlight of our week. We visited good friends Jeff and Kim Allem, and their kids. Jeff if pastor of Calvary Fellowship Church, in Downingtown, PA. They live in the country, and have a pool. Our kids spent all day either in the pool or, in Daniel's case, riding around and around and around their house in a small motorcycle. We were also pleased to meet all three members of 3 Shades of Blue, twins Jeffery and Jesse and super-cool bass guitar player Austin. Check them out on their website or their blog. Oh, and we played Settlers. I won't mention who won (because I'm a humble guy, you know).

The last two evenings I've gotten home at 12:30 a.m. and 12:05 a.m. respectively. The reason for this are long talks with good friend Keith Heigel, and his son Josiah. Last night it was good to finally touch base a bit more with Dan Aungst, and wife Katie. While eating pizza and ice cream, we spoke about challenges and God's gifts. Their unborn baby has a condition that I can't pronounce, much less spell, where some of the baby's organs are developing outside of the stomach cavity. You can pray for Dan and Katie as they make decisions as to where to give birth...Hershey Medical Center or Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Our time here is coming to an end. It's been a good time, preaching in 4 different churches, and finishing out this Sunday helping out with a praise band and preaching for the youth kick-off Sunday at Word of Life. The sermon is entitled "The Ungodly Among Us...Are Us!" Not that I think that the youth group or church is ungodly...we ALL are pretty much ungodly to one degree or another when we allow ourselves to get distracted with life to the point that we do not acknowledge or take conscious account of God. Some of the sermon was motivated out of reading Respectable Sins, by Jerry Bridges.

So I'll wrap up this note in order to cruise down to Lancaster and meet our new pastor, Doug Pfeifer, at Panera Bread. I've only met Doug once, and will enjoy the opportunity to work on a friendship with him.
