Edified to Reach the World

Wednesday night was a wonderful time of sharing in the celebration of Fabiola's birthday here at the house with Arnulfo and Alex and Mar. Fabiola related to us a bit about Bryan, a young man who recently became more integrated into our church. The team from PA visited his house two weeks ago and had a wonderful time there.

Fabiola told us how he as come to faith in Christ through the influence of another young man, and also related how Melissa and Alejandra have been able to talk to him about God, give him Christian music, etc... Probably the neatest thing about the whole conversation was to see and hear Fabiola, an new believer herself, excited and radiant.

Somebody last week asked me where the priority should be in a church...on edification or evangelism. Of course, you have to have both. But there is, without a doubt, no better encouragement and excitement when brand new believers become incorporated into the body of Christ, the church. Edification is essential...but for what? To invade the world with the light of the gospel. It's not an end in itself.

Quote of the Day:
The longer we live, the less pliable our minds are to learning. And certainly that is going to be our epitaph if we give up on learning, if we think we've learned enough, or if we've chosen to simply work off what we know. We convince ourselves that somehow what we already know will take us where we need to go. Unfortunately, we who build our lives one the Scriptures are at times most in danger when we conclude that all we need to know is in one book so we can be ignorant of everything else. Wide Awake, Erwin McManus, p. 39

Picture...my dear friend Keith, getting it done.
