If you are in any way aware of what's going on in the ministry here, you know that we are in the process of raising support for the purchase of a plot of land for the second church in Jesus Maria. I want to thank many of you for your generous donations already to this project.
We formally initiated the land purchase process this past December, signing a contract to purchase, and paying an initial down payment. I won't go into all the details in this public forum, but suffice it to say that we have most what we need for the total cost of the land, but still lack a big chunk. If you're interested in the details, I'd be happy to send them to you. We also sent many of you a report on the back of our most recent newsletter, sent snail mail.
What is so exciting is how the church here has owned this project, and has in two short weeks earned nearly $1000 U.S., quite a lot of money for this depressed economy! Last night the little house that we rent was converted into a restaurant. I have no idea how many quesadillas, bombazos and banderillas were sold last night...what I do know is that there were so many people there, we had to wait probably 20 minutes for our order to be ready! Tomorrow, in addition to food being sold after the service, we'll have a small store selling chips, candy, soda and more!
A special thanks to many in Word of Life Chapel, who have taken this project seriously. Also thanks to Leroy Community Chapel, who is focusing on this need this coming Sunday, promoting it in their church bulletin. I don't lose sleep over anything...and don't plan on it during this project...but knowing that this is God's project ultimately will help me sleep soundly! As in any project of this nature, there are many aspects to it...legal documents, international wire transfers, eventual building permits, the formation of a non-profit organization, coordination of teams, etc...
We'll try to keep you in the loop as this project moves forward. Sure how we can involve a couple teams coming down this summer in some construction!
