Our morning began with a Mother's Day presentation at our kids' school. Mothers Day is always May 10 here, regardless of whether it falls on a weekend or not. The kids sang and danced for their mothers...a fun program!
After that, Mayra and I spent pretty much the rest of the day with Matt and Laura, and what a fun day it was! We took them first to the Basilica...no better way to communicate what Mexican Roman Catholicism is about. Then to Bellas Artes, lunch at Sanborn's house of tiles and the National Cathedral, including a tour to the roof of the Cathedral. Then a quick trip to the Ciudadela for some shopping (for the women) and coffee for the guys. Then, well, we really needed to eat some churros and chocolate at El Muro, but first, a quick trip up the the observatory at the Latin American Tower. So much to do, so little time!
We arrived home just a bit ago, around 10 p.m., a bit tired by happy.
It has been extremely encouraging to talk to the Steeles about their desire to be involved in missions and their perspective on the American Dream (read David Platt's book Radical for a summary) and God's will for their lives. Exciting!
Quote of the Day:
“But then I realize there is never going to be a day when I stand before God and He looks at me and says, 'I wish you would have kept more for yourself.' I'm confident that God will take care of me.”
