A Wedding and a Funeral

Friday we picked up the Beenenga family, Denny and Dave from the airport, and are having a great time with them.  Dave and I have been talking missions and missions strategy, also ideas for Word of Life, it has been great.

Friday evening we received a call from Blanca, a member of the first church here.  Her mother was dying, would we come and minister to her.  I stayed with Blanca and her mother for a couple hours until 10 p.m. Friday night.  Her mother had already been in the hospital for about a month.  Her labored breathing and extremely pained movements all said death was near.  We read scripture and sang a bunch of hymns to here.  At 4 a.m. this morning Blanca's mom departed this world.

Daniel, friend Henry and David went to a football playoff game today early, and Dave and I walked to José's who let us borrow his car.  I can't drive the van today because of license plate restrictions...oh, the joy.  We haven't had water upstairs all day either.  Days when we have water, electricity and are able to drive our vehicles, well, those are good days!  This evening we attended a wedding, good friends Josué and Patty, from Ixtapaluca.

Oh, Matt and Laura Steele arrived today too!  Great couple!  We immediately hit it off...I'm sure they'll enjoy their time here, and I know we'll enjoy having them.

Below, a bad picture of a beautiful wedding...

Quote of the Day: In the church we must have a revolution of heart and mind so that we remember that people are more important than property and life together is more important than simply singing together. We must value God's Word applied in a family setting more than any sermon from a pulpit. We must allow the power of the kingdom of God to be released to ordinary Christ-followers and not monopolized by the clergy.

I've experienced a funeral and wedding 6 years ago...2 days before my daughter's wedding was my mother's funeral. My Lord pulled me through both experiences. I could not have done it without Him.
