Syncretism

Expect a few video excerpts in days ahead...today was a full day of working on details for the wedding on Saturday, trying to keep Daniel involved in home schooling, and videoing various aspects of the ministry here.  Cameron has some great ideas...he was hanging from the side door of the van and recording van noises, among other things...looking forward to seeing the finished product(s).

We confirmed our involvement in a missions conference in April at Valley Bible Church.  Great church!  The only bummer is that we were also invited to participate in a missions conference in another supporting church, Leroy Community Chapel, in OH, during the exact same dates.  Wish we could be two places at once.

Below is a horrific photo of some street art we saw yesterday, here in Ixtapaluca.  The outside of this picture is clearly the garb of the Virgin of Guadalupe, and the face, either of the Santa Muerte (Holy Death) grim reaper personage that is increasingly worshiped here in Mexico, or some sort of demonic figure.  When you open up worship to anything other than an Image-less holy God, you just never know where it may lead.  The syncretism  portrayed here is an example where idolatry can lead you, and quite revealing at that.

Quote of the Day:  "In the world it is called Tolerance, but in Hell it is called Despair...the sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, and remains alive because there is nothing for which it will die."   Dorthy Sayers
