Pictures of Sunday Ind. Day fun

Last night at 11:00 p.m. the president of Mexico, Felipe Calderon, stood on the balcony of the presidential palance in the center of one side of the zocalo and shouted, as the president does every year at precisely 11 p.m.--VIVA MEXICO! And everyone responds...VIVA! Then he shouts VIVA LOS HEROES DE LA PATRIA! And everyone shouts, VIVA! VIVA HIDALGO! VIVA. And on it goes for a bit.

We had our celebration at the church one day early, in the evening instead of the normal morning service...and had a great time too. After singing some songs, Martin gave a devotional/sermon, and Samuel directed a fun time reviewing history...picking two teams (women vs. men) and, well, it was hilarious. Then we ate, of course, a lot, and from there things degraded into setting off firecrackers and spraying everyone with foam... You can see more pics on Facebook, Alex Jimenez posted a bunch too.

In other news...the Cowboys won! And against the Eagles no less. Sorry to my PA friends, hope you can make it through the day.

Also...over the last couple days I've been having problems with the brakes in the van (after just getting the alternator fixed 10 days ago). I took it in and apparently it's the brake pump (literally translated). So...hopefully that will be fixed later today $200 later.

Yesterday we went to a small zoo with the Cottrill family. Check that out on their blog, Finding Direction. http://cottrillcompass.com/blog/ Good time!

Quote of the Day:
“Every day you and I walk through God’s shop. Every day we brush up against objects of incalculable worth to him. People. Every one of them carries a price tag, if only we could see it. Lepers and AIDS patients, children and gray panthers, the wise and the foolish, saints and prostitutes: Worth the life of my Son, the price tag says. Will you respect the value of those you touch? Are you willing to pay the price? When you reach out to the untouchables in your world, you are signing up for pain. Love means disappointment and heartache.” John Ortberg
