We returned back to Mexico City right as hurricane Dean made landfall this past Wednesday, after a week-long trip back from PA that included a weekend stop in Dallas for CAM Int'l Mobilization's Next Step Conference, a trip over to Houston last Sunday to celebrate Charles's 25th b-day and a good time at the Houston zoo the following Monday, then back in the car again towards the border. Instead of staying near McCallen we drove another 45 minutes or so to South Padre Island and stayed in a hotel close to the beach. Although we were only able to spend an our or so late Monday night and two hours Tuesday morning on the beach, the kids absolutely loved it.
From there we made it to San Luis Potosi on Tuesday, the to Ecatepec, Mexico, to Mayar's parent's house on Wednesday afternoon. Both the radio and television reported heavy flooding that would have made our trip home a lot longer, so we ended up staying Wednesday night at my in-laws house.
Thursday was filled with unpacking and visiting a couple of schools, and Friday we were able to register all the kids in school.
This Sunday Martin preached, David did the music and I directed the service. Afterwards we took Alberto back to the Seminary...along with a coffee maker, a bunch of stuff for his studies, a small desk lamp, a cell phone card and assorted goodies. As it turned out, a bunch of other people wanted to go along too...we managed to fit 12 or 13 of us in the van for the trip to Puebla, including Alex, Alejandra, David Gomez, Paty, Liz, Sandra and assorted kids. And of course Alberto. It was amazing to realize that we had 5 young people in the car who have come to know the Lord within the last 14 months.
