Yes, I know, when I say football I should mean soccer, right? Especially because we live in Mexico, especially because soccer is the world's most popular sport...blah, blah, blah. So I guess we should try to love soccer, appreciate it, know it, play it. Sorry. I just can't get excited about a game that lasts over 90 minutes and ends in a 0-0 tie. Or 1-0 (what excitement!).
Granted, football was probably mis-named. You really barely even use your feet in football (except to kick, and of course run). But it is still a much more interested sport to play and to watch than soccer is. Oh, come on, any objective perspective must admit that!
Both our our boys really enjoy football, the manly sport where you tackle people, etc... Last year, both of them played in a nearby team. This year, for various reasons (financial and logistic), only Daniel is playing in a team, a different one named Cherokees.
I was talking to him manager recently and floated the idea of bringing a football team down from the U.S. and playing some scrimages here. Really any age group would work. Know of a good contact for this? Please let me know!
Quote of the Day: It is in Jesus’ name that desperate people pray, grateful people worship, and angry people swear. From christenings to weddings to sickrooms to funerals, it is in Jesus’ name that people are hatched, matched, patched, and dispatched. From the Dark Ages to postmodernity, he is the man who won’t go away. Ortberg, John Who Is This Man?: The Unpredictable Impact of the Inescapable Jesus (p. 14).
