Another crazy weekend. Saturday was full of Bible studies and getting ready for Sunday. On Sunday we had another very good attendance of somewhere around 65 and then afterward had a birthday party for David Gómez, our co-worker, worship leader, youth group leader and Bible study guy. Most of the church showed up. We ordered a 5 kilo cake and everyone brought a bunch of food. This is called a taquiza, when everyone brings a dish of something that can be put on a tostada or stuffed in a corn torilla (that’s a taco, by the way, no hard shelled tacos exist here…or anywhere, for that matter!
Today I got a couple cool emails. Brigam, whose image we’ve cloned into our church mascot, plans to come back from mid May to mid June. His English class eagerly awaits him. Daniel and Erin Ransom have confirmed their time here for this summer. Daniel is a student at Gordon Conwell and participated in our first ever internship program way back in 2002. He and his wife will be internship leaders this time around.
Cameron, an MBI grad, is here, and begins his video dude stint mañana in Puebla with the Blyckers, then back here, then up to San Juan del Río with the McManuses, then back here to video the team from Oak Cliff, then somewhere else, probably the Bajío.
Grant Bridgman, and intern from last summer, wants to potentially come back this summer, which is cool. Also, Brad and Patty Aungst, whom I had the privilege of marrying a year and a half ago, want to potentially come down this summer. They are both teachers in PA. Brad is my second cousin.
I talked to Brad Bridges today also. Our internship count is up to around 8 confirmed, 7 ladies and one guy. Come on, guys, let’s try to even things out a bit! The primary summer ministry is ESL, but there’s a lot more going on too.
That’s all for now.
